Gir!

Time to relax
Time to go slow

Makinig kay pareng bob
At sasabihin nito

Pagsapit ng dilim
Lumalamig ang hangin
Sindihan mo na
Ang bonfire natin

Time to relax
Time to go slow
Maupo ka na lang
At panoorin ang mundo

Kalimutan muna ntin ang trabaho
Masisira na ang ating ulo
Kailan ka ba naman huling tumambay
Patapusin ang walang hanggang paghihintay

like I always say

don't vote straight. NEVER vote straight unless you firmly, truly believe that everyone on the slate is worth it
vote for the candidate, the person. because in the end, even though his/her political party is a large influence, he/she would call the shots for his/her constituents
also, vote only if you truly and firmly believe in that person. don't be swayed by "huy iboto mo si ___" or "pre, boto mo naman si ___". make sure that whoever you're voting, you really believe in. don't be a puppet - call your own shots.

yun lang :)
happy elections!

it is not enough to drink 8 glasses of water a day.
those 8 glasses should be distributed throughout the day
such that, you'd be hydrated the whole day
otherwise, you'd be very hydrated one moment buy very parched the next
:)

Feel Life

the first and foremost thing that a researcher does before he/she does anything is to obtain the informed consent of his/her participants
no informed consent = no experiment/field research/interview/whatever
the logic behind this is that you just don't get his/her consent, as in force him/her to agree or not. you get the participant's informed consent, which means you explain thoroughly what it is and what will be done and what probable effects it may have. in the end, after all the explanation, it's still up to the participant to decide (rationally, hopefully) if it's ok.
...

the problem is, for the past few days, we've been bombarded with a ton of "vote yes to the CRSRS" and "vote no to the CRSRS" without giving the students right information. I don't mean that they lie, it's just that some of their statements are a bit biased skewed, which doesn't give us the proper picture, which doesn't give us enough information to make an informed consent (feeling ko nga mga half lang talaga may alam ng nangyayari, and of those, konti lang yung may pakialam). and without our informed consent, we'd be just like puppets - forced to do something without us really knowing what it's about.

if I were you, next week, I'd make my informed consent. the Codified Rules for Student Regent Selection are posted at the AS lobby (and hopefully, around most of the colleges). Go through it, scrutinize it, and then ask around why you should vote yes or no. and if possible, get both sides of the story (informed consent nga eh). don't get pushed around.

and in the end, I'm not pushing for a yes or a no vote (obvious ba?). I'm urging you to make the right choice.

What's the right choice? you decide
...

and suddenly, I care about politics!
(but no, marielle. I'm still not interested :P)

well, not exactly random. I came across this on yahoo sports and just laughed!

Akala ko pa naman si kobe yung contestant, but this was way cooler. in a way
quoting mr Skeets:
"To recap, Kobe's sweeten-the-pot offer was two tickets to a Lakers home game, some autographed Zoom IIIs, a trip to Hawaii to watch the Lakers training camp next year, and a chance to hang out with Kobe himself after one of the exhibition games. All of that on top of Clark's $383,000 pile of TV cash.

I think he made the right call."

yes, I think he did.
...
I waaaant!
...

random thought number 2:
pano kaya kung magganito yung PBA? Sponsored ng Talk N Text o ng Ginebra? hahaha!

31st-Dec-2008 10:20 am - last post of the year
Gir!
maybe. there's still a few hours left :P
...

AD (that's abu dhabi for you :P) has been nice.
the weather's cool cold
- as much as I wanted to bring my pugad jacket with me, hindi pwede. titiklop siya sa lamig hahaha. (if we had a thicker version though... hindi siya magagamit. mainit sa pilipinas ahaha)

the streets are very very clear
- as in, lahat ng roads nila 5 lane highways! walang eskinita, walang oneway-oneway, walang lubak. kahit dark alley wala nga eh hahaha

and the food is just great!
- I know it's unfair, but mr. kabab and perspolis and baba ain't got nothing on the street eateries here hehe. plus, they got the good stuff like cold stone and fudruckers XD

...
we went on this desert safari thingy a few days ago where we actually went to the desert! sand dunes and all. and we went dune bashing! (not that kind of bashing) we were on this land cruiser and went up and down (very steep downs) and sideways (going down) all over the sand dunes. ang cool! like being on a rollercoaster and drifting at the same time! medyo nakakahilo nga lang, some of the other groups had to stop and puke lol. (speaking of which, naisip ko lang na napakapanghe siguro ng suka nila with all the garlic, yoghurt and chillies in their diet o.O).
then, we stopped by this camp (yes, in the middle of the desert) where we rode a camel (astig pala feeling nun. sobrang taas!), wore arabian clothing (so embarasing...), smoked a hookah/shisha (mmmm...), ate all the kebab and pita and hummus and baba ganoush (say it with me! baba ganoush!) we could eat, and watched a belly dancer um... dance :) (contrary to popular belief, belly dancers aren't thin. they do actually have a belly. how else could she balance a sword on her side hahaha. but like popular belief, sexy nga sila XD)
on the way back (and it was a very long ride even though sobrang bilis namin haha), nacompute namin that gas here is around P20 per liter. *sigh*
...

we got a psp! pero wala pang games. walang pirata dito eh haha

for serious. they stamp out the pirates here. meron pa ngang parang public awareness campaign on counterfeit goods and why they should only buy original. pretty great, actually. for them. hindi uubra yan dito hahaha
...

what else? the buses here are free! well, until march something I think. bago lang kasi eh, they still don't know how much to charge. the cool thing is, they just go round and round their route. parang ikot/toki free ikot/toki! na sobrang layo ang inaabot! hahaha
...

sana pala dala ko yung field journal ko. training pala toh eh hahaha
...

yun lang :) I'll post my 2008 entry tomorrow. it's gonna be legen...
...
